I weigh 137 pounds and I really want to lose some weight, because I’m extremely embarrassed to go swimming. I know there’s really no "fast" way to lose weight, but what can I do to lose weight? I always drink water instead of sugary drinks, and I do 100 sit-ups and ballet squats before I go to bed every night. Any other important tips and exercises I can do for great results? Oh and I want to lose fat on my stomach, hips, and I want to tone my legs.

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

Well, I’m also trying to loose weight and i weigh around the same weight as you are. People usually say to drink 6-8 cups of water.,,doing this will help you gain metabolism. And instead of doing exercise all at once you should do mini-workouts through out the day. Doing this is more healthier then doing excersise all at once. Also you should eat smaller proportions. One thing I like to do is..since im a couch potato..whenever there is a comercial break i like to do the mini-workouts. I hope this helps

    Eat 5 times a day
Start with breakfast. The more you eat for breakfast, the less food you will want to eat at night. Please, don’t skip this meal as you’ll end up devouring everything in sight for the rest of the day. You don’t need to gobble up 5 large meals, just 3 meals of a sensible size and 2 delicious yet low calorie snacks. Eat sensibly so your body doesn’t crave for food. If you treat your body right it won’t demand for more attention!

Use weightsNeedless to say, exercise is crucial to weight loss. You can’t expect to sit on the couch all day, sip water and lose weight. Join a good gym that lets you work with weights. It will help you build muscle and your metabolism rate will increase. You’ll soon see the fat come off and in its place muscle will develop.

Use smaller plates in dark colors
The hotel industry has changed the way we look at food. Today a regular burger can feed an elephant. Well, almost! Check your portions the next time you dine out. You don’t need to finish every morsel. So, what you should do is ask your waiter to put half of your meal into a doggy bag before it even makes to the table. This way you will not be tempted and you will feel full eating less. And you will have something for breakfast too!

Read between the lines Food and drink products are all out to get you. They scream ‘Buy me! Buy me!’. It could be ‘fat free’ but it could still have a lot of calories. You need to analyze the nutrition label on the cover. The number one example of this is sodas. Find out what’s good for you and what isn’t. Knowing in advance can help you stay away from products that are calorie-enriched. Oh, and when shopping for groceries, avoid the aisles with cookies, frozen pizzas and ice-cream – it’s not the best place to test your will-power.

    Good question,

First you have to understand the basics of losing fat. You cannot specifically reduce fat from different spots on your body, such as your stomach, hips or legs. As you lose body fat, it comes off various areas in proportions according to your genetics. The good thing is that women tend to lose fat from their stomach first!

There are really no "tricks" to dieting and exercise to lose body fat. It’s good that you’re drinking water, but make sure you’re really consuming no calorie-containing beverages at all. This includes milk! Dairy is a decent source of calories and protein, but pretty much any calorie-containing beverages cause you to consume too much over the course of the day.

As for you diet, there are a just a few simple rules to follow. Things can get much more complicated, but just start by eating 4-5 small meals per day and focus on getting lean protein from things like poultry, fish, and some red meat. Eggs and dairy are fine in small quantities, as well. Also, consume plenty of fresh produce, as well, and some healthy fats from nuts and oils. Finally, have some whole grains, but not too many – even "good" carbs can keep you from losing fat quickly. Most of your meals should be a small portion of meat + veggies + olive oil or nuts.

As for exercise – it’s good to do things like sit-ups and bodyweight squats, but you’ll get the best results from actually lifting heavy weights. NO, you won’t get "bulky" – the only way to get "bulky" is to eat too much and gain body fat. Lifting weights will help you build muscle, and although there really is no such thing as "toning," your body will start to take on a much "tighter" appearance as you lose fat and build muscle.

Finally, you should do some cardio every day. The best way to do this is to get up early and go for a brisk walk every morning. It doesn’t need to be extremely long; 30-45 minutes usually does the trick. When you haven’t eaten anything in the morning (take this walk before breakfast), your body is best suited to using your body fat for energy.

Combine these tips for cardio, weight training, and especially DIET, and you will lose body fat as quickly as humanly possible. Don’t get desperate and starve yourself, for if you do, you will lose several pounds quickly and then stop making any progress. Ultimately you will end up back where you started.

Keep a journalIt helps to document what you eat. This way you can keep track and evaluate your eating habits at the end of each week. And if you’re a little more tech-savvy, then you could always maintain a weight-loss blog. Ask your dietician to look at your journal and suggest improvement points. I found it helpful to measure myself with a meter every morning. Every time I skipped dinner, my waist was a little bit smaller – and that’s what gave me the strength to get my appetite under control.

After breakfast, make water your primary drink. At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda. The average American consumes an extra 245 calories a day from soft drinks. That’s nearly 90,000 calories a year — or 25 pounds! And research shows that despite the calories, sugary drinks don’t trigger a sense of fullness the way that food does.

Buy a pedometer, clip it to your belt, and aim for an extra 1,000 steps a day. On average, sedentary people take only 2,000 to 3,000 steps a day. Adding 2,000 steps will help you maintain your current weight and stop gaining weight; adding more than that will help you lose weight.
