I have found that most women are routinely discontent with some part of their being (physical, mental, emotional). And so feel the need to be continuously working on self improvement to the point of exhaustion. Do you notice this as well?
@Poodie,
True, but it should not be done under the disposition of discontent. One should approach self improvement with joy, not the feeling of being incomplete.
Every wise person knows that growth is a lifelong process.
hi sometimes I want to read online from my cell a good reading but I’ve run out of ideas. I like books that will help me be a better person. Books that show me how to be wise, like being a better wife, how to deal with difficult people, or depression, or how to be smarter and using my brain more…anything to help me be better. So please if you know a good book online of self improvement, let me know! Thank you so much.
Hi Isis Redrose,
I would like to recommend a comprehensive resource; Meditation, self control…
I recommend to take the course named "Silva UltraMind ESP Seminar". It has been around for more than 40 years and referred to as "Silva mind control". It is a method of Dynamic Meditation, that will help you feel better, healthier and with peace of mind. it will guide you to develop your God given senses to improve conditions (internal and external), project solutions, experience abundance in evey area of your life, take the right decisions and enjoy a happier life.
I invite you to visit my blog and read my recent experience and then you may click on the link to reach the author’s site.

and dramatically changed your life around?
Or have any self improvement books ever motivated you to greater things? (and if so, what books)
Has any event in your life spurred you on to build a better life for yourself?
TIA guys…
Yes. When I was 21 or so I realized my university friends were making a lot of progress in general knowledge so I set out to give myself a college education in those subjects that didn’t need clinicals.
I taught myself ancient, medieval and modern history, world history, English and world literature including writing my own poems and stories, traveled overland to India from Europe just for the experience, and more. I taught myself musical appreciation by taking piano lessons, geology, anthropology, psychology, and went to school for a nursing degree. This was also inspired by Aristotle’s dictum that self-improvement is a moral duty.
Pretty much in the title of the question. Self improvement is good, but shouldn’t we also be happy in ourselves?
Thankyou for the answers, but I am not so much talking about superficial changes. More along the lines of trying to be more social or outgoing, being more empathetic of others, etc.
I think about it this way – We aren’t ourselves as we are made up of introjected values from others from childhood when we were not capable of thinking for ourselves so the self improvement comes from an examination of what we are and what we are not and is more a process of weeding what we are not than adding – experience and the consequent learning from it at a time when we have our own morality and understanding of self and others shapes us further – Absolutely it is the aim to happy in and with ourselves but first we have to pare away what is not our selves- & this would tend to be a life long process. I am old and I still find prejudiced thoughts running through my head that are from a family long dead as if they were my own and although its easier to laugh at them they still exist and give me a jolt. But at least I catch them and annul them and so I think its a process of beocming who you are – There is a good book by alan watts ‘the taboo against knowing who you are’

Already in college and have never been home schooled before but I would like to home school myself for self improvement. Want to become well-rounded. I have no experience in home schooling so I would like some advice. Please.
My questions:
Is it possible?
How would you go about doing it?
Do you recommend any topics/subjects to study?
Good programs or books to use for self home schooling?
You’re in college. You don’t need to enroll back in k12, a provider of online and high school curriculum! Now, you’re looking for self-improvement. You don’t need to homeschool per say, like a 10th grader would. You should figure out what it is that you want to improve on and study those things. If you’re weak in math, study that on your own. Want to learn a foreign language? Study that with something like rosetta stone. Want to improve your speaking skills, look into toast masters. You don’t have to homeschool to be a life long learner, but you can be. If you’d like to learn to dance, why not take lessons? Adults can continue to learn their whole lives. Lots do it at home, sometimes they take classes for self-improvement. That it’s homeschooling isn’t magic, you ought to choose ways that’ll work for you.
Whatever you do, have fun. It’ll make you a more interesting person.
Does hypnosis work for building self esteem? Are there alternative methods available: I found a good hypnotherapist to do hypnotherapy but he wants $100 per session and I am not sure it will even work.
Yes there are better ways to access your subconscious mind to help you build self esteem that are better and less expensive than hypnosis or hypnotherapy
What language techniques are used in self improvement quotes, phrases, speeches etc.
How do these self improvement techniques impact on the way they are perceived?
What does self improvement mean?
- Self improvement is the technique of seeing opportunities instead of problems, solvable causes instead of unavoidable conditions, and strength over weakness.
Hello! I 15 year old i study in high school. I would read books like 7 habits or getting things done.
Great… I found all the books by Stephen Covey, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill and Norman Vincent Peale to be quite interesting.
I have always been working towards improving my position in life. Next year I hope to finish my degree or be close enough to finishing my degree.
What are some of your plans?
Defend the Constitution. I resolve to spread the following information; and, like a "Paul Revere" I warn, "Get this public before we lose our Constitution by those who would scrap it to protect their secrets".
It is said that Jesus "descended into Hell and on the third day arose from the dead". Crucifixion forces what is called today "holotropic breathing". Dr. Stanislav Grof replaced LSD with holotropic breathing. LSD awakens brain use beyond the normal 10% by blocking the inhibitory neurons.
Holotropic breathing, and other muscarinic nervous system stimulations, awaken the brain by overriding the inhibitory neurons. The neurons of the parasympathetic nervous system are called "muscarinic" for their stimuilation overriding the inhibitory neurons like the hallucinary drug muscarine.
The major plexuses are called "chakras" in yoga. Stimulation, called "kundalini" in yoga, spreads in any particular nervous system. In the case of the muscarinic nervous system the stimulation spreads to the brain and there awakens more the 10% brain use.
The biggest muscarinic nerve is the vagus nerve. It doesn’t pass through the spine, but, its main trunk emerges from the brain in the roof of the nasopharynx. Advanced yogins have cut the ligature that holds their tongues down so they can put their tongues up the back of their noses.
This act is called the "khechari mudra", in English, the "fig gesture". This act causes so much vagal stimulation that the heart stops by vagal syncope. The yogin can then stay in suspended animation for any chosen length of time and voluntarily withdraw his tongue to "resurrect".
The blood stays oxygenated during the khechari mudra. Houdini did this in some of his feats. But, with the "water board" of the Gitmo Baptism, the intent is to fill the nasopharynx with water, enough just to put the candidate for initiation into what Dr. Stanislav Grof called "perinatal matrix three".
Is there any other Hell? Very often those who resurrected from what seemed to witnesses as death, had a homeopathic reaction from death such that the brain woke up with more than its normal 10% use, so that, this actually "hyperlife" state was called, the world of the dead, the Underworld, Hell, etc.
The mind is very powerful to materialize its visualizations as reality in the Underworld. Can anyone control all their thoughts? Things go wrong. as soon as the candidate wishes he were someone else, "zap" he body switches into that someone else, where he no longer has the more than 10% brain use, and is weak again.
But, he doesn’t belong in anyone elses body, so, as soon as that body sleeps or dies, it’s into another body he goes. And, on and on and on, going backward and forward in time in body after body, into everyone he has ever seen, for about a hundred years duration.
This was called the "aioniu amartematos", an aeon of failure", in the original Greek Bible, translated into English "etenrnal damnation". But, Jesus Christ, being God, body switched into everyone who ever was or ever will be, and on every probability timeline. That’s why He is always in you and I. This is real.
The awakened brain accesses the multidimensional universe that people with only 10% brain use, at any time, are unaware of. It doesn’t have to be that extreme. Perinatal matrix one is euphoric. In perinatal matrix two, the "Knowledge of Good and Evil", as one goes into this fifth dimensional direction, the brain gets more and more powerful to travel in the sixth dimension to the probability timelines corresponding to imagination.
Dr. Stanislav Grof, in his "Adventure of Self Discovery" said that this was the real sacrament of Baptism, but, it was also what Adam and Eve did with each other, "eating" the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil" that constituted the "original sin" so that the Cathars made this thier sacrament of "Unbaptism".
Other related stimulations are condemned as "witchcraft", called in the Koran "blowing on knots". It’s all how far you go that determines its arbitrary worth to various classes of society. It has been the most suppressed secret in the world. Dr. Grof is the first to get away with making it somewhat public. But, every Christian has the right to understand the crucifixion. It must be common public knowledge for justice.
All of these budget cuts reflect the politicians and governments dereliction of their duties for their employers the US Voters and Citizens… And the politicians keep telling us the recession is over?
They are arguing over something between $0 and $60 billion in cuts while we need to cut $1.5Trillion to stay within revenue coming in vs what they plan on spending. Again. The problem is the impasse is not about money (obviously) but about stupid stuff like NPR and abortion. Give me a break!! the Republicans have confessed that they are all on board with the Welfare State, so we are completely screwed here in a Socialist reality of redistribution, which in more ho9nest times was called theft by the gunbarrel of government coercion.
Meaning all these arguments are pointless because We The People are going to get completely screwed forever by Leviathan. AKA Mordor.
