I can’t help but notice that there are tons of daily articles on Yahoo about obesity and bad eating habits. There was one comment I read though… The woman stated that allowing your children to eat sweets, junk foods, and fast foods should be considered child abuse and bad parenting. Do you agree?

Of course not!
It is like Mrs. Obama said– there is no reason not to let your child have the occasional "junk food"… what is child abuse is not giving them anything OTHER than junk food.
Not only due to obesity– but malnutrition and growth-pattern issues related to eating habits.

If a parent controls their child’s diet, but doesn’t starve them, and they still have a weight issue- sometimes it is genetic, or a medical problem that needs to be assessed by a doctor… and not judged by others not involved with raising that child.

The BIGGEST contributor to childhood obesity is technology and our society!
Gone are the days when your child could safely stay outside all day running, biking, jumping rope– now they are on the computer, playing video games, texting etc… and can’t even walk to a friends house without worrying about their safety!

And if parents would get-together to FORCE the schools to feed the children correctly at lunch– AND have recess & Gym- 1/2 the battle is won!
(our schools got rid of outdoor recess and gym for budget reasons– and serves nothing but starches and fried JUNK at every lunch!)

It is NOT for our Government to tell us how to shop, cook, eat or raise our kids– but I believe nutritional education SHOULD be required in grade school!!

I need a good way to prevent obesity for students (food-wise)
I already though of removing vending machines and making healthier lunches, but I need just one more solution.
I’d appreciate your help!

Our local schools have sugar laden chocolate milk, strawberry milk and whole milk as milk choices with lunch. If yours does also, simply offering only low fat and skim milk would be suggestion. Getting rid of desserts other than fresh fruit (and possibly canned fruit packed in juice only, no sugar) with school lunches would be another.

I’m having trouble coming up with an introduction to questioning if fast food restaurants are to be held responsible for people’s health problems with obesity. My paper is a persuasive against the fact that fast foods are NOT to blame for the choices people make. What could be a good introduction? A little help please? Thanks!

Maybe something along the lines of: " Many lives have been lost to the complications of obesity. Yet ritualistically many people are consumed by the idea that fast food restaraunts are to blame, when indeed this is no the case.

I want to become a nutritionist and i have my ideas on how to stop obesity but how would you help or stop obesity?

People who are obese need to realize that they are unhealthy and should do something about their weight. There are so many people that are obese who are in denial of their condition.

Also, we need to educate children on the importance and benefits of eating right.
Not only do we need to educate them, but we need to lead by example. We need to talk the talk and walk the walk.

Its a project on adult obesity and i need a appropriate song to put so any suggestions would be most helpful!! The song doesn’t have to be about obesity but I need it to fit the photo story well.

Something sung by Adele (her songs are always really sensitive)

Stood up, by A Fine Frenzy.

Or something else by A Fine Frenzy.

Or even Evanescence?

I want to make an arguments on obesity in America in my research paper/argument. I was thinking of blaming American society but this might have limited information. I need 10 sources. What would be a good argument?

get facts about fast food in America. ex. there are 13,000 Mcdonald’s restaurants in America.. it’s much easier to stop and get a value meal rather than finding the nearest grapefruit. talk about kids who have working parents and are given some money, where are they going to grab something? they resort to fast food. Also, you can talk about how there is no incentives for Americans to put down the cheeseburger when they have pills to lower their cholesterol.their pills are paid for by who? the rest of Americans. (Public Health) argue that if we were responisble for our health we would make better decisions but because people pay for our medications there is no reason to be healthy.

I wondered if many of the health risks of obesity are myths, and if not, is it possible to be healthy and fit, with weight reduction ? I was thinking about Paul Campos book, the Obesity Myth.

Thereis no benefit to being obese…it will KILL you

My mama died from obesity heart disease, how the hell is that benifit

It took 6 paramedics and two stretchers to carry her on the ambolance…

Besides a primary doctor and a nutritionist, is there a specific doctor that treats obesity and overweight patients to help them lose weight?

Bariatrics is the study of obesity. A Dr. who is a specialist in bariatrics is called a bariatric physician or less commonly, a bariatrician.

I have to make a poster on childhood obesity, but I don’t know what I should include on it.
I already have pictures of obese children, but what else could i put on it?

All children grow up, don’t they?. If they are obese, they’ll have problems participating in activities that would otherwise be taken for granted.

- No lazy walks in the park on a sunny afternoon
- No active participation in sports

More problems with:
- moving around
- getting up stairs
- shopping
- arranging spontaneous meetings with friends

There are lots of things you can put on your poster – but keep it simple and direct. Seeing the future results of a current problem may be enough motivation to halt it before it’s too late.

Im doing a speech about obesity and i need a few ideas. :) Can some give me some ideas please?

America is the depression capital of the world.
America has a lot of people on ANTI-DEPRESSANTS WHICH IS JUST SAD but maybe its because AMERICA is mystery Babylon, caught in materialism, greed, celebrity culture, etc. not the truth or the indigenous meaning and value of life.
