A new Australian program is helping overweight people of all ages “get their heads around” the fight against obesity. Ned Newman of “Never Ever Diet” has a strong message that “mind over matter” can make the difference between a lifelong struggle against weight gain, coupled with yo-yo dieting, and a healthy weight coupled with enjoyment of food.

The world is getting fatter. Despite the huge and ever growing diet industry, obesity continues to increase.

A recent report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said “The proportion of U.S. adults who are obese increased to 26.1 percent in 2008 compared to 25.6 percent in 2007”.

The agency states, “During the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater. BMI is calculated from a person’s weight and height and provides a reas onable indicator of body fatness and weight categories that may lead to health problems.”

An obvious conclusion to draw from this report is that dieting just does not work. At every turn, we are implored to try this diet or to go on that diet and we are cajoled, punished and made to feel guilty for being overweight. Yet, we get heavier every year.

So if dieting makes us fatter in the long term, what are we to do?

There is a movement towards looking at the emotional causes of obesity instead of the traditional physical approaches of restrictive diets, special foods, meal replacements, pills, chemicals, surgery and tortuous exercise.

Best selling author Jon Gabriel, “The Gabriel Method”, says “Your body has an internal logic that determines how fat or thin you will be at any given time. The way to lose weight is not to struggle or to force yourself to lose weight but to understand this internal logic and work wi th it so that your body wants to be thinner.” Mt Gabriel himself lost 100 kgs before writing his life-changing book.

The UK’s top non-fiction author and hypnotist Paul McKenna, “I Can Make You Slim”, has helped millions to lose weight with his system that re-patterns your thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs about yourself, your health and food.

In Weight Loss for Food Lovers, Australian MD, psychiatrist and author Dr George Blair-West writes about “our deep emotional attachment to food and the research into Restraint Theory”. He says his clients “needed to make a quantum shift in the way they approached losing weight”.

An increasing number of experts are coming to the same conclusions.

Mr Newman’s “Never Ever Diet” program has distilled the wisdom of many of these experts into a simple 21 day meditation plan to turn you into a slim person. He says “If you are overweight and on a diet, you are probably starving your body of the nutrition it needs. Dieting sends your body the worst possible wrong messages”. He states, “You can teach your mind how to make you as slim as you want to be and never ever diet again”.

Client Stacia Biddle says “This program tapped into my subconscious mind and made me pay attention to what I was eating. In fact, at this point, it has completely gotten rid of my snacking urges throughout the day”.

Gradually, people are realising that losing weight is not about what you put into your mouth. It is all about what is in your head. We have been brainwashed by Big Food with cop-outs like being fat is beyond our control, it is in our genes, our inheritance, our hormones, whatever. Or that we are lazy, greedy, self indulgent and it is our entire fault if the latest diet fails us.

It appears that obesity is a problem that we need to “get our heads around&rdq uo; if we are to defeat it.

I weigh 137 pounds and I really want to lose some weight, because I’m extremely embarrassed to go swimming. I know there’s really no "fast" way to lose weight, but what can I do to lose weight? I always drink water instead of sugary drinks, and I do 100 sit-ups and ballet squats before I go to bed every night. Any other important tips and exercises I can do for great results? Oh and I want to lose fat on my stomach, hips, and I want to tone my legs.

I need to know how to lose weight without looking I am dieting or anything. My mom won’t let me lose any weight but I think I need to lose some weight. The thing is I don’t want her to know I am dieting, so what is a good way to diet without her noting it?

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

I need to lose at least 50 pounds fairly quickly. I do a bit of strength training with free weights already, and I don’t eat a lot of food. I don’t want to kill myself, but I do need to lose the weight fast. Anyone have any good suggestions?

You can’t really target WHERE you lose weight. I suggest you stay away from processed foods, fast food, fried foods. Eat leaner meats, and more fruits and vegetables.

That’s going to be a big challenge already. Check out this website on food and exercise tips if you need more help: http://www.weight-lose-fast.com

I have tried to lose weight before a few times, and it never works for me like at all. I don’t know what to do, but I want to lose weight fast, and healthy. I wanna lose like a lot of weight in a few months because I am fat and I am impatient.Does anyone have ideas or tips?

Concentrate on losing/burning fat. When you lose fat you will achieve the toned look, look slimmer, leaner and overall better. You can try P90X , but P90X costs $125 and it takes 90 days for results. A better choice and even a faster and free program is the specialized fat burning program called the Fat X 12 fat burning workout and diet program. It’s a 12 day workout and diet plan you can cycle as many times a you want. The workout videos and diet are free on the Fat X 101 blog. It’s an awesome program to burn fat and tone up! Good luck!

I got over my eating disorder two years ago. I am now bordering on overweight. Whenever I lower my calories, I either gain weight or my weight stalls. I am assuming this is related to the eating disorder (my body hangs onto the fat because it thinks I will starve myself again).

What can I do to lose weight? I don’t care how fast or slow.

Here i s an excellent site with some wonderful options for you. It will definitely help you. Have a look. http://webmd69.notlong.com/AA4Ad44

Studies prove that people who lose weight quickly are more likely to gain it back.

It shocks your body, and it can screw up your metabolism permanently to make gaining weight easier and losing weight harder… giving you something to struggle with all of your life.

If you make "fast" a more important factor than "permanent," you are going to screw yourself badly.

Losing weight is more of a mental battle than a physical one. If you really want to be successful, you have to battle your impatience before you can change your habits.

And fact is, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to change your habits— forever. To learn to make better choices about exercising and eating healthier. Because if you ever change back to your old habits, your cells will gladly gain all that weight back.

So what does it matter how long it takes? As long as you change your lifestyle to healthier habits, you will take it off and keep it off.
