My friend just hired a personal trainer and has been bragging about how much weight she is going to lose. What can I do to lose more weight than her and faster w/o a PT?

I’m trying to loose weight, actually I have been trying for the last six months… I’ve experimented with a lot of different things, but I think I finally found something that might work.

I suggest doing what this mom did and combining the Acai diet with a cleansing program for the best result

I have lost around 20 pounds and this has affected my skin and hair the most. My face looks pretty but does not glow like before and looks thin too, also my hair are nearly 1/2 of what they use to be. I had really long hair, still long but very thin. I still got to lose 8 pounds and gain some on my face to get the glow , what do I do? Is it possible to get back my fce and hair once I stop weight loss and start maintaining.

Do Yoga in the morning from 6am to 8am daily for 2hrs. You will see the changes on 4th day onwards.

I am homeschooled and I have recently become overweight. I am about 5"0 at 136 pounds. We live in an apartment and I can’t really go around much in this neighborhood. There have been some crimes recently and we live next to a train station and a highway. My parents won’t take me to a gym and we don’t really go much anywhere. My dad SOMETIMES takes me to go on a bike ride, but that’s once in a blue moon. I need to lose weight. I am only a kid, so I don’t know how to exercise. I used to be really active and skinny, but ever since we moved here, I can’t do much. Please help. Don’t bother and waste my time if you have insults or ridiculuous idiotic things to say. Only people who want to help me. My idea to lose weight would be about 20 to 30 pounds, and I want a six pack. Please help. Any ideas of how to lose weight accepted, except insults.

Apartments.com has a great area of their website you’ll probably like a lot. Apartment Living has tons of exercise articles, check this one out.

Working Out in Your Apartment
Turn your apartment into a fitness factory! You don’t even need to buy a home gym!

Depending on your goals and preferences, you might want to buy one, or more, of the following items:

Jump rope (high intensity cardio)
Mini-trampoline (mid-intensity cardio)
Exercise DVD (for those who like guidance and motivation)
Free weights or an exercise band (strength training)
Exercise ball (core strength)
These items are inexpensive and can add to your workout but they’re really not necessary. Read on for tips on improvising and creating your own routine.

Cardiovascular Exercise
This type of exercise increases your heart rate and tones your muscles. Here are some suggestions:

Jog in place and do jumping jacks.
Jump rope (start slowly as this is very high intensity).
If you have stairs, run up and down or use only the bottom step to jump on and off, using both feet.
Do old-fashioned aerobics (think 80’s dancing). Aim for at least 20 minutes and make sure your heart rate is elevated.
For a more effective calorie-burning routine, alternate five minutes of cardio with one of the strength exercises below until you’ve worked every muscle group. This is called circuit training and should keep your heart rate elevated. When your heart rate remains high throughout your exercise time, you burn more calories.
Strength Training
Compliment your cardio routine with strength training. Strength exercises are necessary for a complete workout. Building muscle raises your resting metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories throughout the day. If you aren’t into the big and bulky muscle builder look, don’t worry about it. It’s pretty much impossible for you to get that way without incredibly intense training and supplements. Follow this full-body plan 2-3 days a week for the best results.

Arms – You can either purchase an exercise band (about $10 at a retail store), free weights (prices very by weight) or fill up a milk carton with water or sand until it reaches your desired weight. Do 12-20 repetitions of bicep curls, tricep dips and shoulder raises.

Chest – Get on the floor and do some old fashioned pushups—as many as you can do without losing your form. Start on your knees if you’re a beginner. Also do a press with your band or weights. Lie on the floor and hold a weight in each hand. Lift them straight over your chest and lower slowly. (12-20 reps)

Back – Stand with your feet hip-width apart and bend forward. Grasp a weight, or a weighted object, in each hand and hold your arms out in front of you with a bend in your elbow. Use your back muscles to lift the weights to shoulder length and lower slowly. (12-20 reps)

Legs Squats – Stand up straight with your back against the wall and bend your knees until they are almost parallel with the floor. (12-20 reps)

Lunges – Stand with one foot 2-3 feet in front of the other. Bend both legs as low as you can without allowing your front knee to go over your toes. Keep your back straight the entire time. (12-20 reps)

Abs – Do 25-50 traditional crunches on the floor. Lie on the floor and put your hands behind your head gently. Lift your head up, not forward and focus your eyes in front of you. Hold in your stomach muscles the entire time and breathe after every crunch.

Toning/Flexibility
Every workout needs a stretching component so that your well-toned muscles can look their best—and not cramp up at work the next day. There are myriads of different stretches but here are a few you can do to keep limber:

Purchase a stretching video: Dim the lights and make it a relaxing experience.
Do yoga: This can be a workout in itself. Look for a book or video on hatha yoga, the style that focuses on stretching poses.
Recall your basketball team days: The warm-up and cool-down exercises you did as a high school athlete are still useful today.
Now don’t you feel better? Try to get in a workout 4-5 days a week to really notice a change in your body and energy level. Now your only problem is the neighbors below you…be courteous and workout during daytime hours so that you’re not getting angry knocks on your door mid-crunch!

I have been running a ton (about 30-40 miles per week) for the last 3 months and my diet is healthy. I have lost some weight but am finding it nearly impossible to lose the gooey fat in my manboobs and stomach. What the heck do I need to do? I do situps and left weights (bench press) all the time. HELP! I look like the poster boy for bitchtits.

You sure the diet is right? Mostly vegetables and fruits, with ample amounts of meat, dairy, and grain.

Incremental exercise is usually the answer when you settle in a rut that you can’t seem to get out of. It’s most clearly exhibited in cardio (your running). When you first do cardio, your body burns a certain amount of energy – lets say 1,000 calories in 30 minutes. But as time goes by and you keep doing cardio constantly, your body adapts, becomes stronger and more efficient,…and eventually burns only 600 calories for the same 30 minute workout. That’s why you have to do increments. Alternate between fast, normal, and sprinting speeds. It keeps your body guessing, up and running, and therefore will always burn as many calories as it did a year ago.

I need to lose at least 50 pounds fairly quickly. I do a bit of strength training with free weights already, and I don’t eat a lot of food. I don’t want to kill myself, but I do need to lose the weight fast. Anyone have any good suggestions?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast – they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner – repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I have thunder thighs and a big butt so i always have trouble finding the right jeans!!!
I want to actually lose weight i dont want to make muscle because i want to be able to fit into a smaller pair of jeans because im 14 and a size 7!!!!
Please help me out on some ideas that will help me achieve my goal.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so it’s OK to build muscle while losing fat. Don’t be afraid of making muscle.

Eat healthy – don’t cut the calories too much, but do eat a smaller amount. Eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains (100% whole wheat bread instead of white, brown rice, etc.)

Drink water – cut out the soda/pop. Try to get 8 cups (measuring cups – 8 ounces) of water each day.

Couple a healthy diet with cardio workouts – 3-5 days a week, 20-30 minutes per session to start. You can walk, jog, bike, play basketball, do aerobics… whatever you enjoy doing that gets your heart rate up. You don’t have to work out so hard that you feel like you’re dying – work out to the point that you can talk fairly easily, but not jabber on and on. :)

Do strength exercises to build muscle (yep, I’m suggesting this). Building muscle helps you lose fat even faster by speeding up your metabolism. Sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges… all these will help. Do these only every other day – don’t strength train the same muscles two days in a row.

Hope this helps! I also recommend sparkteens.com, a free web site that helps you track your nutrition and fitness, plus gives lots of good information and encouragement.

HOW CAN I LOSE WEIGHT!!!!! IM NOT FAT OR ANYTHING BUT I WANT TO BE REALLY SKINNY I WANT TO LOSE 10 POUNDS OR ATLEAST 6 POUNDS BY AUGUST 15!!!!!!!!

Homeopathic Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY’s Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don’t get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don’t get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying. Loose as much as you want to !
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

P.S
Regular active exercise is advised with all weight loosing medicines and remedies :-) Take care

I’m an 17 yr. old girl who is 5’5" and 140 lbs., medium bone structure. I generally eat healthy (no soda, snacks, etc….) but have recently restarted a daily exercise routine (I stopped after a long vacation in the winter). I’m planning to swim 2x per week, take ballet lessons 2x per week and lift weights 1x per week (1 hr. each). Is it possible for me to lose 15 lbs. by the end of the summer? or is 140 lbs. a healthy weight for me?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.

Can i lose weight by dancing ? currently im about 124 pounds, adn 15 years old. So how long should i dance each day?
i want to get down to about 110 pounds in two months.
any advice?

Well, depending on the dancing, 30 minutes a day, four times a week should be enough exercise. You also need a proper nutritional plan as well. To be in the safe range you should lose 1-2lbs a week and you are working with 8 weeks, so you should be able to do it.

Eat healthy, e-mail if you have any questions.

i am 14 ,currently a student, weight ard 81kg/170+lbs, i want to lose weight constantly , dunnid to be fast, due to my studies , there isn’t really any chance to exercise, wat other ways can i do to lose weight?

ok heres what i suggest, i had the same problem , i am 16 and i got up to 190 lbs and now im at 160, i want t oloose like 10 more but generally i am happy. First Drink WATER all the time . like 4 or 5 nalgiene ( really big) waterbottles full. Do not drink anything carbonated and try and cut out ALL PRESERVITAVES these hold onto fat and make you hungrier. And so you keep the weight off allow yourself to have say 1 juice glass full of soda a week or 1 piece of cake or somthing that wat you wont feel deprived at all. Next you said you dont really have time to workout, ok thats fine but say your going to school park as far from the door as possible and speed walk EVERYWHERE it will be a way of getting a little bit of exercise eventhough you dont really have the time. Or you can do somthing lik ebuy DDR (www.ddrgame.com) and do one or two sets a day (like 10-15 minutes).
Another thing that greatly helped me was walking around naked every chance i got. I know it sounds weird but it helped me to be more comfortable with my body and realize that if i diddnt like somthing it wasnt going to magically change i had to work to make a difference and every small difference was noticable. And the last piece of advice i have to you is when you wake up every morning look into the mirror and say out loud one thing you love about your body or your personality. Having self confidence really helps you stick to what u gotta do. Believe me befor i started doing all that i would get depressed and loose the drive to do somthing about the way i was. It diddnt happen overnight either, it took almost 5 months but it is a safe and healthy way to loose weight and fast
I hope this helps you
